Thats (almost) pure bs about any advantage of running 19psi. I can almost gaurentee you that you will find no real performance advantage of going over 16psi on stock turbos. Why? Because the turbos are running well past their efficiency range and 19psi on stock turbos is 19psi of VERY hot air, as well as the possibility of flow reversion on the exhaust housing leading to detonation.

I've been in two cars, both running 19psi, one on stock turbos one on sport 550's. One car made 240kw on the dyno and one made 217kw (couldn't even get past 16psi as it was too much for the turbos)

Going to a bigger turbo increases the flow rate through the exhuast and compressor housing allowing you to run cooler air temps at higher boost levels which equals more power. Simple.

You will find that going to the setup with increased breathing (dual air + intercoolers + exhaust manifold work) on sport 550's will have VERY little difference in lag compared to the standard stage 3 setup, maybe 2-300rpm difference. I know as I regularly ride in a car with a setup exactly like that (a friend who lives 5-10mins drive from me), and I drive a stage 3 car everyday, both manuals.

If you want minimal lag with awesome mid range pull then 550's are the one's to go for. If you want to blow up your turbos repetitively and see no real performance aspects then stick the stock ones in.

Trust me you will NOT be dissappointed going to 550's. But you must put in the DualPOP setup, and the intercoolers, otherwise you will strangle the turbos. We've seen a recorded jump from 220kw to 240kw by just putting a dual air on the 550 setup. Plus the chip needs some fine tuning so I think 250kw is acheivable.
